Chloe Teaching Poppy

Ever since Chloe started to school she has told me that if I listen then I will learn. I have heard this message over and over since she first said it.

Every weekend when she come over to our house, I ask her what she learned in school this week and she never wants to tell me. But if I let her be the teacher and I act like I'm her student she will cover everything that she learned that week. This way I know what she is learning and it surely doesn't hurt to hear it again with such a sweet teacher.

Out of the blue she asks me do I know what a noun is. I am so stunned that she even knew the word that I couldn't answer her, when she replied with the answer. A noun identifys a person place or thing. Poppy listen to this sentence and I will tell you the nouns. The boy ran after the red ball. Boy and ball are the nouns in this sentence.

I didn't learn what a noun was until the fifth or sixth grade and here she is learning it in Kindergarten.

The next thing that she ask me is do I know what a Proper Noun is? Again she replied with A pronoun is a word that takes the place of a noun for subject, object, or possessive cases, like Palmer and Kroger's. I was even more impressed and I asked her how she learned it so quickly. She said that her teacher said her mind was like a camera and once she heard it it stayed in her memory. Other kids in her class had to memorize the definitions or write it several times to remember it. I let her know that her daddy was gifted like she is with learning new things just like she does.

Ok Poppy, "Do you know what a Pronoun is?" She then said that it was a word that replaces a noun or substitutes for a noun. Listen to this sentence and see if you can find the pronouns? He ran after the big red ball. He is the pronoun.

Now we will learn about adjectives? Do you know what an adjective is? Again before I could answer she was giving it to me because she thought I might not know. Adjectives are describing words in a sentence, like big and red in the sentence I gave you before.

Poppy,? "Did you know that there are seven continents that make up our world?" "There are seven continents and they are: Africa, Antarctica, Asia, Australia, Europe, North America, and South America." I was so proud of her that I couldn't wait to tell Grandmother what she had learned this past week.

She said, "Now class we will sing some songs and I want you to listen so that you can learn the tune and the words to these songs I am going to sing." After singing several songs I started singing along with her and she said, "Poppy I haven't given you permission to sing yet and some of your words are different that what I am singing." "This is why you need to Listen so that you can Learn"

Listen And Learn, Maybe this is why God gave me two eyes and two ears and only one tongue.

Religion Versus The Gospel Of Christ

There is a great difference between the two:

Religion is man-made, the gospel is God-given.

Religion is what man does for God, the gospel is what God does for man.

Religion is man trying to climb the ladder of his own self-righteousness, with the hope of meeting God on the topmost rung. The gospel is God coming down the ladder of the incarnation of Jesus Christ and meeting us as sinners at the lowest rung.

Religion is good views, the gospel is good news.

Religion is good advice, the gospel is a glorious announcement.

Religion takes a man and leaves him as he is, the gospel takes a person as he is and makes him in the image of Christ.

Religion ends in an outer reformation.

Religion whitewashes, the gospel washes white.

Religion often becomes a farce, the gospel is always a force: the power of God unto salvation, to everyone who believes.

There are many religions, but only one Gospel of Christ.

This was shared to me from a friend, I don't know who wrote it. Maybe someone knows.

Our Saturday Together

Last Saturday Chloe spent the weekend with us and she told me that she wanted to go shopping. I think that she has learned that when she goes with Poppy, she get more than when she goes with Grandmother. I figure that she is only going to be little one and she will probably be our only Grandchild.

We went to Big Lots looking for a sale item and she found a discount table with Halloween items on it and after digging through it she found a blond and pink wig.

When we got into the truck she had to open the package and put the wig on. I had never done this before and I'm trying to help her when she tells me, "Poppy this is a girl thing." and she proceeded to put her hair into the hair net and cover her head with the wig. When I went to take the picture of her in the wig she closed her eyes and wouldn't look at the camera, I asked her why she didn't smile and have her eyes open, and her reply to that was that she hadn't had time to get herself all prettied up before I took the picture. She is six going on thirteen.

She loves her Barbie dolls here at our house as well as all of the ones that she has at her house. They all have names and only she know where she came up with these names, and I find it hard sometimes to keep up with their names. She told me that if I watched the Barbie movies then I would learn their names. Most Barbie dolls look the same to me, but she is constantly changing their outfits and this is when I get the names wrong.

While at Big Lots she wanted to buy more Barbie doll clothes, not play clothes but formal dresses. We found a box with five formal dresses and five pair of shoes and five purses. She decided that this is what she wanted to buy for her dolls. You already know that Poppy couldn't turn that request down.

When we got home she got out all of her dolls and set about changing their clothes. Poppy you can take these three dolls and put these clothes on them and then we can play dolls. We end up playing dolls, coloring, putting puzzles together and then we start the cycle all over again. We end up having a lot of fun and she can't wait to tell Grandmother all that we have done today.

Later on Saturday she wanted to go to Captain D's to get herself some shrimp and Poppy you can get whatever you want for yourself. I asked her was she paying for it with her allowance. She looked at me and said, "Just get up off  that back pocket a little bit and then you can pay for it," She must have heard that said sometime before. Well we go and she orders her food and I order the same except I get a baked potato instead of mac and cheese.
She ate nine of her twelve shrimp and said that she was full and she was going to get a to go carton to take home her left overs for later. I let her go to the counter and get a to go box while watching her as she went. She comes back to the table and put everything neatly into the box and said Poppy I'm ready to go.
The next morning Chloe' gets up early and gets herself ready for meeting and comes to find me to see that she is ready. She has been picking out her own clothes since she was walking. She knows what goes together and matches everything well. We go to meeting and afterwards on the way home she lets me know that she and the Barbies are going to have a photo shoot in their new dresses.
She combs out Mariposa's hair all around her head and let me know that this shot is for a new curling iron and hair products. When I was six I never knew anything about photo shoots.
Laurel Belle is posing in this shoot about a problem with split ends on her hair and the product that will repair them.
Airaposa is showing how sunblock protects your skin from damage by the sun. It helps you keep a flawless complexion.
Airadessa is graduating from college and wanted to show off her new look, a new hairstyle and makeup.
Nicholette  is showing off her wind blown look and her new gown by Devonn.

We later played school, where she was the teacher and I was her student. Watch and this post will be coming soon.

Esther's Ninty-Fifth Birthday Party

Our friend Esther had her "ninty-fifth" Birthday Party at her sons house on Saturday. Their were about fifty guest there. As the guest came in they were entertained to beautiful music being played on the Grand Piano.

Our friend Esther is in the center and her sister-in-law is on the left and a friend is on the right.(Cristy G.)

This is her son (Justus) and his aunt.

Here is her "Birthday Cake," all decorated in pink and white roses.

The table loaded with nuts, candy and two cakes. The chocolate cake was for two friends and the larger one was for Esther. The flowers for the center piece were from Esther's garden.

While people were arriving a MATA bus pulled up in front of the house and several people commented that they had never saw a bus come down his street before, but too there surprise, after the bus stopped and the door opened off came Sue G. and Emily H. my mother-in-law- and my sister-in-law. They had the MATA handicap bus pick up mom and bring her to her friends Birthday Party.

We had a Buffet Style Dinner and everyone set around tables and visited and then the ladies cut the cake and it was served.

Melody G. who made the cake was cutting and serving up the cake, Violet P, Judy O. and Carl G. were waiting to serve the cake to the guest.

Trick Or Treat

Chloe has looked forward to this "Special Day" as she calls it all year. You get to go out with mom and daddy and knock on doors and get free candy. Candy is something close to her heart, unless it is Peanut Butter, or has nuts.

This year she went as a bride, a present that she got for her Birthday as well her Mimi's, Barbie Doll Wedding Dress.

Getting Ready

Mom was putting her hair up so that she could wear the headband of flowers.

Oops, She was talking and moving around because she was so excited.

Posing for a few pictures at the Breakfast table.

Showing off the pumpkin that she decorated at school. (Pumpkee)

She didn't want to carry the flowers that went with the dress because it got in the way of her candy bag, so she had her daddy carry the flowers for her.

It rained most of the day on Halloween and it sent a lot if the Trick a Treaters to the mall for candy in the stores that passed out candy. Chloe went to a neighborhood that had hardly any kids come out to Trick or Treat and at each house they gave her hands full of candy.

All I can say is she came home one happy girl.

Chloe And "Lovey Bear"

Another week has passed and we have arrived at the weekend again. I sit here wondering what surprises this weekend will bring.

Every weekend we get our grand daughter for Friday, Saturday and Sunday and I wonder if she looks forward to it as much as I do. I never know what she will want to do and play but I am ready, (I think).

She loves it when I pick her up after school and today I am picking her up a little early so she will like that even better.

After checking in with the office they call her classroom to let the teacher know that I am there. I sit in the lobby waiting for her to come from her classroom. As she spots me she breaks into excitement and can't wait to tell me of her day. She is bringing home a "Special Bear" for the weekend and that she has to turn in on Monday a report of all the things that she and the bear did for the weekend.

So here is "Lovey Bear" her "Special Friend" for the weekend. I think this is pretty special that her class is doing this and on each Monday the kids share in each child's weekend and during the week
as the children see the bear sitting in their class it reminds them of the fun that they shared with "Lovey."

Well as you may have already guessed where our weekend would began, yes, McDonald's. How can you turn down such a great place to eat or have a snack and play on an indoor playground with other kids your age.

She wanted to take a picture with Ronald with her and "Lovey," to remember their weekend together.
When I showed her the picture on the camera she said I needed to take on closer up. So....

Sh was pleased with the new photo, because it was much closer and you could see the "happiness on each face."

She said that she was going to take "Lovey" through the tunnels and then down the slide so she could experience what she liked best about the playground and then she could sit on the table and watch while she played.

She showed "Lovey Bear" how much fun you could have when you sat in the Space Bubble and watched the traffic go don the road and watched the people sitting in the playground area.

After playing for over an hour she decided that she was a little hungry and thirsty. She let me know that she was going to go and order it and bring it back to the table. After giving her the money I follow her and watch to make sure everything goes well. After getting her order and getting it back to the table she wants to choose her own drink and fill it herself.

After getting her soda she is ready to stop and rest and enjoy her snack with her "Special Lovey Bear."

She loves eating her french fries one at a time plain without Ketchup.
And drinking her soda so that she can go back and get her a refill, maybe not to drink now, but to carry with her.

She sits and explains to "Lovey Bear" that this computer works just like the i-Pad that she uses at school and like the computer that she uses at Poppy's and Grandmothers. When we get home I will show you how you can do the same things there.

Chloe found a new friend today and they played and raced and had so much fun together.
The climbed up through the ladder cage to get to the tunnels so that they could slide down the slides.
And then they wanted to walk around the outside seats to reach "Ronald McDonald."

After playing for several hours, we decided to head for home and to relax before having to pick up Grandmother at work.

When we got home Chloe wanted to color on the computer and play a few games. She said this would help her relax.

So she started off by doing pictures of food and the she wanted to do pictures of Halloween. This program above you just pick the color that you want and touch the area on the picture you want to color and it is pretty easy.
The she wants to try doing SegPlay where you choose the Artist, then you choose the picture that you want to paint. It is a color by number and she loves to find the numbers to color the painting.
Here we have her finished painting and I congratulate her on a job well done. She continues to paint and play games for about and hour and then she wants to take "Lovey" to her room to see her other bears. Once there she decides to play dolls and as usual She wants me to join in with the playing as well. I am glad to be able to join in with her as she plays. She plays until Supper time and then she gets her bath and then she wants her back scratched so she can go to bed.

It's Saturday morning and she is up early to get started on her weekend. We play dolls, color at the table with the crayons and she gets out her word cards to start her class (me and Lovey Bear) are her students and she teaches us how to write our letters and to learn our words that she has learned this week at school. She tells me that when she grows up that she is going to be a real teacher not just a pretend one.

Grandmother brought Chloe a package and wants her to open it before she goes to work. She is so excited to find out what her surprise is.
She is very happy to see the surprise that Grandmother has gotten her.
"Grandmother," "This is just what I have been wanting, so I can ride the horses at Pop's house. I believe you just read my mind."
They sure feel good on my feet and I really love the pink flowers on them. "Thank You," very much.

We then take Grandmother to work and then afterwards we head on over to Pop and Great Grandmother's house. We sing as we drive down the road. "Over the river and through the woods, to Pop's house we go. Our truck knows the way, to get us there today, So that I can jump on the trampoline."

When we get there we see Pop and Great Grandmother and Aunt Emily. I show them "Lovey Bear" and tell them what we have been doing. Great Grandmother wants to know if I still love school, and I tell her that I do. Pop is going to take a nap and Emily is busy getting lunch ready.

Chloe helping Great Grandmother by getting her some cold water.
Pop was getting a much needed nap this afternoon.

Poppy and I head outside to jump on the trampoline. I love this trampoline that sits in the shade of the Pecan Trees where you can watch the dogs laying in the shade and hear the calves mooing and watch the horses as they come up to be petted and fed. What is not to love about Pop's house and all the things you can do there.
