Poppy, May Is A Special Month
Chloe, was telling me the other day that May was such a "Special Month," for her. When I asked her why, I got an answer that surprised me.
Usually in May the thing that she looks forward to most is school is out in late May. But this was not what her answer was to my question.
She let me know that it was grandmother's and my Birthday's that she looked forward to most of all. I asked her was it the cakes and ice cream that may be served. And her reply was, "No Poppy, it is your birthdays.
Everybody looks forward all year long for their birthdays and I know that each one is Special to you all because you become another year older.
Well, after I thought about it, I said you are exactly right about that. A birthday is a whole lot better than a dirt nap. Yes, when we look at the number each year, the numbers are going higher and we know our time is less than the year before.
So in the future I will share her outlook and look forward for the next Birthday, knowing I have made memories for her for one more year. I will be glad for each day that I get to spend with her, just like my parents did for me. It is those memories that boost me whenever I think about my age.

Poppy, Let Me Drive, I think I Can!
I remember back when I was a child the privilege of getting to sit in the front seat of the car. Sometimes whenever I got to sit in the front seat my dad would either let me change the gears or steer the wheel as we went down the driveway. I felt so privileged whenever I did this.
We also sat in seats without seat belts and the cars that we rode in were built like tanks. We would lay down in the back seat and sleep, play, or just ride and let our minds wander.Sometimes we even lay up in the back window of the car and watched our world pass by in a blurr.
If there were a bunch of kids we would sit in the back of our station wagon with the sead folded down and we could then play games as we rode down the road.
Kids of today don't know what they are missing. We have cars with airbags in the dash, steering wheel, doors, seats and in the seat belts. We have cushion material in the dashes, seat belts, child seats, safety glass, self parking, side sensors, blind spot sensors and self braking just to mention a few and yet our children are restrained in the rear seats of the car until they get to be a certain age and weight.
So it's easy to understand why they want to drive the car because they see their parents doing it and all kids want to be like their parents when they are little.
We were out in the garage and Chloe had been riding her scooter and her bike when all of a sudden she decided that she wanted to sit in the driver's seat of our SUV and play like she was driving it.
She opens the door and climbs in, as she sits in the seat she sees that the seat is too far back so she readjusts her seat then she adjusts the rear view mirror and then the door mirrors. Tilts down the wheel to be comfortable for her and then asks me for the keys. I ask her why she wants the key and her reply is to change the radio station from mine to her kind of music.
I let her know that I don't have the keys and that she will have to play like she has set the radio to her favorite station.
I then ask her where she is going, and she said that she has to go to Macy's because today is the start of their big sale. I ask, "How do you know this?" She looks at me like I am crazy and said, "It has been all over the T.V. and in the ads in the newspaper!"
Wether, I want to believe it or not, my little granddaughter is growing up so fast. I am just glad that I can enjoy each time I have with her because she is so precious.

Happy Birthday, Poppy
It is that time of year again, my birthday. They are just another day and I'm glad to have one because I know that I am still alive.
We picked Chloe up from school as she ended the year for first grade. It has been a busy year for her and a good year for us as well.
I never thought back when I was a little boy that I would ever be this age. I thought that when you got this age you were old and had one foot on a banana peel. Well some days I feel older than other days, but the age that I am is just a number.
Yes, I am a senior citizen, and I qualify for those senior discounts, and if I have to show my ID to prove I am that age I will because I have earned it.
But whenever I am with our granddaughter, I feel that I am much younger than my years, because she brings alive the kid in me. We both forget that I am older and play games of my youth and games that she wants to play.
I'll admit that I never played Barbies with any of my nieces, or Ken dolls with my nephews. When I was little everyone that played with dolls played with baby dolls.
It's another world altogether when you play with these dolls that are grown up dolls. So we just play with them as if they were regular people.
Back to my Birthday, Chloe was glad that it was a "Special Day," because on special occasions there is usually cake and most cakes have a lot of icing on them and she loves icing better than the cake.
Grandmother had gotten a small cake since I didn't need a large cake and we all had a piece and Chloe had our icing.
The cake has been devoured and another year has past as I look forward to another year. I am thankful for each day and hope that I use my time wisely.

Poppy, I Have An Idea...,
Well it's finally Friday again and you should already know what this means!
If you answered, time to go and pick up Chloe from school, you were correct. Where has the week gone for it to be Friday all over again. No, I'm not complaining, I'm just wondering what happened to make the week pass so quickly.
I get there early to try and get in the front of the line and I am car number eight in the line. At least when she comes out I am parked at the end of the walkway and she can walk straight to the car.
As soon as she gets in the car she let's me know that she has an idea to pass by me and to see if it's ok by me. I was thinking in school today that if you would buy me a Happy Meal and buy one for yourself then I could end up with two toys instead of one. Chloe this is a great idea, why haven't we thought of this before. I don't know Poppy, we were just our math when the idea came to me.
Well we ended up buying two Happy Meals and an extra, Large Fry.
Chloe ate her plain cheeseburger and her small fries but decided that she wasn't thirsty enough for a drink because she had gotten earlier a Raspberry Slush from Sonic when she got out of school.
After she ate her meal I let her see the toys that came with her Happy Meals. The Yellow Doll she named Shutter Fly and she named the Pink Doll, Pinkie Pie.
She asked could she store the dolls in my Computer Bag so that they would stay safe and she would not lose them. She wanted to wait until she got in the car so she didn't lose any loose pieces.
Once we get thru eating and the toys are stored away she runs off to play and I settle down with my Word-Find book that Chloe got me from Dollar Tree and try to find words while watching her play and while listening to about twenty-five kids holler and scream as they have a great time playing together.
She decides to stop and get her a drink that she hadn't gotten earlier with her meal and cool off a bit. She also wanted to see one of the dolls for a few minutes to check it out in the bag.
Hey Poppy, you know that it has been awhile since you took my picture with Mr. Ronald.
Ok Poppy, Ronald and I are ready for you to take our picture this time.

Poppy, Do You Remember This...,
Chloe had come for the weekend and we usually play Barbie Makeover's on the computer and look at the pictures that were added from the previous week.
She said, "I bet there are some old pictures that I haven't seen in a while on this computer, you thinks so." Your probably right about that.
Poppy, I remember this one, we had been playing outside and grandmother had gone to the store and brought back some watermelons and I was playing with them.
Poppy, I don't remember wearing this green dress! I know it hang in the closet but I don't remember wearing it, but it looks good on me.
I remember this one was taken on the slide in my backyard.
How old was I in this picture Poppy? About 9 months old.
Lookie here, I still love pasta and Alfreda sauce, but not so much peas and carrots.
I look cute in this brown dress. What happened to this dress? Grandmother gave it to your little cousin Scarlett. But Poppy, I wanted to keep it for my little girl. OK, we will get it back from Scarlett when she can't wear it anymore. Tell her to not get it dirty!!
I remember this time at Pops on his back porch!
Poppy, This was one of my favorite outfits, it had a red skirt and some red pants that I later wore as shorts.
I remember this day feeding the ducks and wanting you to take me for a run around the lake when my daddy surprised me and he took me for a walk and run around the lake and to the store for an ice cream.
These two pictures were taken when we went to the park with Grandmother and we had a picnic. Do you remember that Poppy?
I was cute and tan when I was a little girl, right Poppy. I loved to play outside and still do.
I remember trying on these shoes at the show store and want them because they had heels but they were to big.
Poppy, Look at my smile in this one, hehe
Hey this one was not to long ago when I lost my two front teeth!
Hey!!, In this one I've got my mama in my mouth and the dolls hat on my head, that's so funny.
Look!! Poppy Grandmother and I look just alike! Cool!
Why do I look so serious in this one Poppy? Probably because you were watching the ducks in the yard or on the lake.
