Debby's Homemade Pear Preserves

The pear have been washed and are ready to peel, slice and dice.

Whole pears after the peeling has been removed.

Slicing and then dicing the pears after they have been peeled.

Bring the clean jars to a boil on the stove top to make sure that they are sanitized and ready for the preserves.

We have diced up all of our pears and they have been rinced and are now ready for the sugar to be added and then put in the refrigerator for the night.

They have been sitting in the refrigerator overnight covered with sugar to sweeten and to draw the juice out of the pears. The are now ready to put on the stove.

The pears are on the stove at a low simmer after bringing them to a boil and they will simmer for about three hours.

Debby and I were glad to see the Preserves finally finished and that all of the jars sealed.

Recipe:

Debby's Pear Preserves

5-Gallon bucket of picked pairs will make 2 batches

Directions

Prepare your pears by rinsing them off before peeling.

After they are peeled, slice and cut into desired pieces.

2 – tsp of fruit fresh dissolved into 2 cups of water, pour over the container of fresh fruit that you have cut. (optional)

Take about 6 to 7 quarts of cut pears and drain if you desire, and put 6 to 7 cups of sugar over the cut fruit. Cover and put in refrigerator overnight or cover and let sit on counter.

Put sugared fruit on stove and bring to a low boil (stir it a few times) then turn stove down to just above a simmer and continue to cook for 2 to 2 ½ hours. (stir occasionally)

Then put into jars and let seal.

This will make about 6 to 7 pints of preserves.

Pre-K

We are learning each weekend what Chloe is learning in her Pre-K class. She wants to be the teacher with me (Poppy) and Grandmother. We learn to zip our lips and to listen to the teacher as she instructs us during class. It is great to go back to school and learn along with Chloe, as she spells, practices her letters and explains to us shapes and how to draw them.

She is a fast learner and has a vast understanding of things once they are explained to her. We look ahead to this weekend to see what she has learned this week.

Unfolding The Rose

It is only a tiny rosebud,
A flower of God's design;
But I cannot unfold the petals
With these clumsy hands of mine.

The secret of unfolding flowers
Is not known to such as I.
God opens this flower so sweetly,
When in my hands they fade and die.

If I cannot unfold a rosebud,
This flower of God's design,
Then how can I think I have wisdom
To unfold this life of mine?

So, I'll trust in Him for His leading
Each moment of every day.
I will look to Him for His guidance
Each step of the pilgrim way.

The pathway that lies before me,
Only my heavenly Father knows.
I'll trust Him to unfold the moments,
Just as He unfolds the rose.

Seeds or Weeds?

Be careful what you look at
Be careful what you read.
For any of these items
can become a little seed.

Seeds can grow a good thing
If the right seed is found,
It takes a lot of sunshine
and the right type of ground.

But.... there are bad seeds and oh,,,,,,
how they abound.
They grow from weed seeds on
any type of ground.

So look into your BIBLE,
As your journey along the way.
A good seed will be planted
To feed you everyday.

God's the planter of the good seed.
Satan's the planter of the weed seeds.
SO.......Be careful my little children
what you do or see or read.

God loves you his children ,
For, this I surely know.
Because only seeds that are
planted, are the seeds that
surely grow.

Weeds can crowd out
the good seed in your ground.
So weed your garden often,
and much fruit will oft abound.

The Bible tells us often
The Bible tells us so.
How in your little garden,
Good seed can grow and grow.

I'm A Big Girl...,

I found myself looking thru Chloe's baby pictures and this one pulled on my heart strings. Her favorite person is her grandmother, and you can see the special bond that they have. When she was born until about she was almost three they spent nearly every day together. Grandmother has taught her how to sing, enjoy being read to and her love of cooking.

Grandmother's jug..., when we take a picture we have seen this jug in them because Debby loves her ice tea or water with lemon. After Chloe was taken off of the bottle and learned to drink from a cup, whenever she found the jug without grandmother she would get it and drink it up. Her other favorite thing has always been her(mom ma) pacifier. So as you can see it is on top of the jug so she doesn't loose it.

So when I look back at these pictures I'm reminded of that special bond. I see the reason how I fell in love with a loving, caring, special young lady that is so "special" and dear to our heart, she has taught us a lot.

We love you grandmother!!!

Jordan's Birthday Party

Watch Grandmother and Poppy, I'm going to climb up this wall to the top. I having a lot of fun at Jordan's Birthday Party.

Eli,and I are climbing the wall, this is so cool and fun. I love to clime up this wall and I'm not even scared.

I think that I will just sit down, and get myself ready to try and jump in here.

I think I'm going to walk around inside of this big jumper until I feel comfortable enough to start jumping.

This is cool, you crawl inside and you can jump around with your friends. You have to be careful so that you don;t bump each other.

After playing we went to this room to have cake and ice cream. It was a Pirate Party and we got some gold coins from the cake. We also got some stickers, candy and a pirate's eye patch.
