When You Thought I Wasn't Looking!!!
A message every adult should read because children are watching you and doing as you do, not as you say.
When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you hang my first painting on the refrigerator, and I immediately wanted to paint another one.
When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you feed a stray cat, and I learned that it was good to be kind to animals.
When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you make my favorite cake for me, and I learned that the little things can be the special things in life.
When you thought I wasn't looking I heard you say a prayer, and I knew that there is a God I could always talk to, and I learned to trust in Him.
When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you make a meal and take it to a friend who was sick, and I learned that we all have to help take care of each other.
When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you take care of our house and everyone in it, and I learned we have to take care of what we are given.
When you thought I wasn't looking I saw how you handled your responsibilities, even when you didn't feel good, and I learned that I would have to be responsible when I grow up..
When you thought I wasn't looking I saw tears come from your eyes, and I learned that sometimes things hurt, but it's all right to cry.
When you thought I wasn't looking I saw that you cared, and I wanted to be everything that I could be.
When you thought I wasn't looking I learned most of life's lessons that I need to know to be a good and productive person when I grow up.
When you thought I wasn't looking I looked at you and wanted to say, 'Thanks for all the things I saw when you thought I wasn't looking.'
Each of us (parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, teacher, friend) influences the life of a child.

Baby Geraldine
Many years ago, Debby and I purchased an Africian American baby doll at Penny's outlet in Atlanta. It was only 99 cents on sale, and in the late 1970's this was a rare doll, and Debby likes collecting dolls, so we purchased it. We gave it the name Geraldine, because that the name of a family friend. This doll stayed in a box for over fifteen years, until my sister-in-law found it in her parent's attic where we had put it for storage and forgotten about it. We let her play with it as well as Debby's nieces.
One day I decided to bring it home, and I cleaned her up and put clothes back on her and got her ready for Chloe' to play with.
Chloe' is so appreciative of her new baby, as you can see in the following pictures. It is, as if we had to wait over thirty five years to enjoy our purchase.
Getting ready to change her diaper.
Make Sure that you have plenty of "Wet Wipes"
Changing Geraldine's diaper
Wiping down her baby to make sure that she is very clean.
She need some "Baum" rubbed on her.
Chloe' reassuring me that she is using her own wipes. (MINE)
Satisfaction of a job well done.
Potty Training
We had been considering for a few months how to introduce the potty to Chloe'. When to our suprise she tells her Gamaw, "I need to potty". Where did this new idea come from? We then wondered if her mother had started potty training her and forget to let us know. This was not the case, her dad was in the restroom and she told him she had to potty so he got the potty out and proceeded to let her potty. I'm sure this would have made a great video, but David said, "she had already used her diaper and just liked to sit on the potty.
So when she said, "go potty", to Gamaw, the training begins. She wanted to go every time she thought about it, like it was a game, but who is counting. Sometime she had to and sometimes not, she quickly got the hang of the process.
Everything is quite, "too quite" and we look for Chloe and she is on the floor in the bathroom by her potty with Elvis her rooster playing and I get the camera to take her picture. And then I get a suprise, here she is talking to Elvis the Rooster, telling and showing him houw to "Go Potty".
Like a satisfied parent, she is all smiles as he does his task and her training to him is done.
Oh what priceless memories that are made everyday. We are just glad that we can be here to share them with her.

Fighting A Fever
Last week Chloe spent most of the week with us because she was sick and running a fever, and couldn't go to day care. Do you think that we were unhappy? If you look you can still see the smiles on our face. She is such a joy to be around, and so eager to learn something new.
Gamaw (Debby) took a washcloth at wet it and after squeezing the water out, should her how when it is placed on the forehead, it will help cool down the fever.
Above is a picture of Chloe' trying the technique by herself to show Gramaw that she understood the process. She was so pleased with herself when she did this. She then got her baby doll, Geraldine, and cooled her fever down as well.
Then she takes her play shot needle (Dr. Kit) and gives Geraldine a shot, so that as Chloe' said, "Her will get better".

Our Friends
New friends I cherish and treasure their worth,
But old friends to me are the salt of the earth,
Friends are like garments that everyone wears,
New ones are neededfor dressing affairs;
But when were at leisure, were more apt to choose,
The clothes that we purchased with last season's shoes.
Things we grow used to are things we love best.
The ones we are certain have weathered the test.
And isn't it time, since were talking of friends,
That new ones bring pleasure when everything blends.
But when we want someone who thinks as we do,
We turn to the friends who have stuck through the years,
Who echo our laughter & dry up our tears;
They know every weakness & fault we posess,
But somehow forget them in friendship causes,
The story is old, yet fragrant and sweet;
I've said it before, but just let me repeat;
New friends I cherish & treasure their worth,
But old friends to me are the salt of the earth.

I found this in some old letters from my grandmother. I'm not sure who CH is or if she was the person who wrote this originally.
